Smittybilt Spare Tire Relocation Bracket for Jeep Wrangler
When upgrading your Jeep Wrangler to oversized tires you have to make a decision regarding your spare tire. Option one is to go with no spare tire at all. Some folks, generally those running tires larger than 37″, go this route. Problem is that if you get a flat or rip a tire on the trail you have to wait for someone to go get you a replacement. Option two is to just stay with the factory spare tire and rim. This works fine and will get you back on the road in a pinch if you need to use it. You do not want to drive too far or too fast with one tire that is significantly smaller than the others. Option three is go utilize a spare tire relocation bracket. As seen in the video of the installation of the Smittybilt Spare Tire Relocation Bracket on the Jeep Wrangler JL, you can carry either a 35″ or a 37″ spare wheel and tire in the factory location. CLICK HERE for additional pictures of installed bracket.  This is part number 7721. This bracket bolts to the factory holes and moves the tire up and out the required amount to clear the bumper. It also allows for the use of the factory 3rd brake light even with the oversized wheel and tire.
We went with the third option for a couple of reasons. We wanted to be able to carry the same spare as we run on the Jeep. We also think it looks better to have a matching rim and tire on the back of the Jeep. The Smittybuilt Spare Tire Bracket is a great product. It allows the carrying of 35″ or 37″ tires and retains the use of factory brake light and rear view camera. It is a direct bolt-on product with no drilling required.
