Removing Pine Needles From Pool Screen
If you have a screen enclosure over your swimming pool or have a screen room then you have probably tried to determine what is the best way to clean your screen. Whether you are trying to clean pine needles out of the enclosure or trying to clean off leaves, bird droppings, or anything else, we have tried many ways to clean ours and wanted to share with you what we have found that works the best. We tried using our yard blower to clean our pool screen. It blew the leaves off fine but would not get rid of the pine needles and, of course, did nothing for the bird droppings. We tried a regular hose sprayer and it did not provide enough pressure to blow out the pine needles. We tried a pressure washer and I was a nervous wreck the entire time. Cleaning screen with a pressure washer is a delicate process and, as I saw on some online videos, can cut right through your screen if you are not careful. Even with all that pressure, I found that a pressure washer does not provide enough volume of water to clean the screen well, especially pine needles and droppings. We tried the reach grabbers, like you pick up garbage with to pull the pine needle out of the pool screen and that… was a joke!

I have been trying to find something to supply the perfect balance of pressure and volume to clean the pool screen with and I stumble upon the Orbit SunMate Hose End Sweeper Nozzle on Amazon. It comes with and incorporated shut off valve. After minutes with it on the pool cage I knew… this is the perfect way to clean your pool enclosure. When the valve is set all the way on you get an impressively strong stream that, when done correctly, allows you to blow off pine needles that are stuck down through your screen. If you close the valve to varying degrees you get a wider and more gentle spray. Set at the right amount, this is a great way to clean the screen of dirt and droppings. After all the money that I have spent on things that didn’t work, it was kinda funny that a $10 nozzle (at time I bought it) did the trick!
Cleaning the travertine pool deck has also always been a little tricky to me. I don’t want so much pressure as to blow out all of the sand. I also do not want high volume with low pressure as I end up with large, dirty puddles in the low corners of the pool enclosure. This jet sprayer by Orbit works great for this as well. You can blow the dirt and debris off your pool deck without putting out so much water that it begins to puddle. This thing is great and is a must have if you have a paver patio, pool deck, screen room, or pool enclosure. I haven’t tried it yet but I bet this thing is going to be great for washing the house when I don’t feel like dragging out the pressure washer.
