Game Cameras – Which is best for my budget?
Pulling the memory card out of your game camera and scrolling through deer pictures can be nearly as fun as the actual hunt. When we get to hunting camp, even if it is late at night, everyone is eager to jump on their ATV, go to the woods, and pull their cards. Choosing the best game camera to meet your needs can be a daunting task… until now. We have used many different style / brand cameras. We have also studied the features and the reviews for cameras and have tried to assist you in choosing the right hunting game camera.
Features & Budget. These are the two considerations are the most important in our opinion. There are so many game cameras on the market but many of them are either cheap and junky or they are crazy expensive and offer features that you have no interest in. Being a hunter for many years, I have tried to pair the game camera market down for you and help you make a choice that you will be happy with and a camera that will meet your needs while staying in your budget.
Got a hunter or wildlife enthusiast in the family. Maybe someone that is interest in having a security camera in an area with no power or wi-fi. Game cameras are one of the top selling gift ideas for these groups of people. Birthdays, Christmas, or other holidays will be a big hit when you pick the perfect game camera for your loved one or friend!
When we reviewed the cameras below we took into account cameras the we or our friends have and the experience we have had with those cameras. For cameras we have not used we took into consideration brand history, customer reviews, and features offered for the money. Although there are some cheaper cameras out there, we have not had great success with those or their review were not as good. Whether you are looking for an low priced game camera is just dependable and takes good pictures, a cellular camera, or a camera that takes amazing night shots with all the bells and whistles, we’ve done the digging and think we know what will meet your needs.
Wildgame Innovations Terra Extreme
Best Budget Game Camera
Dependable and a great price puts the Terra Extreme game camera by Wildgame Innovations in the top spot for best game camera for the money. I hesitate to call this a cheap camera because the do such a great job. Let’s just call it inexpensive. Either way, this camera is a great one to have in the woods!
We have had several of these cameras over the years. At 14 megapixels (14MP) these cameras take great daytime pictures. The IR flash is good for taking night pictures without spooking deer or other game. These allow pictures out to about 65 feet. We find that what separate much more expensive cameras from this camera is the nighttime pictures. The more expensive cameras have a farther IR range and take less grainy / higher quality pics a night. The pics this camera takes at night are good enough to identify game and count number of points on a buck but just not as crisp as more expensive trail cameras.
That being said this is an amazing camera for the money and one I always have in our deer woods!
